Emma Kate Purvis is 17 years old and was born on June 10, 1999. She is the daughter of Eric and Heather Purvis and is the third out of six kids. Her siblings are Victoria, Grace, Josie, Mac, and Lane Purvis.

Emma’s favorites includes playing volleyball, the song “Cowgirls Don’t Cry”, pasta, potatoes, and bread. Her favorite classes are math and publications because Mr. Bretz and Mrs. Scheimer treat the students like adults. Also, Emma’s favorite hobby is farming. She actually plans on going to Kansas State University and majoring in Agronomy and Agricultural Business.

When asked what she is going to miss most about High School, Emma replied, “Being able to not work hard and if I could take one thing from Weskan School with me to college it would be the familiarity.” Emma has had some pretty great school memories, but her favorite was: “We were sitting in Math class and there was an awful bird, and Dalen went to the door and yelled at it. Mr. Bretz was so confused and I’m pretty sure we cried laughing.”

Of course since it is her Senior year, she had a lot of fun memories, but her favorite memory of this year has been, “Getting crowned Homecoming Queen. It was so unexpected for me and it made me realize a lot of things about how many friends I have in Weskan.”

Emma would like to tell the underclassmen, “Just realize there are people outside of Weskan. There’s a whole, scary world out there. What you are in Weskan isn’t what you have to be forever.”

Emma is a smart, hardworking girl and has a bright future ahead of her. We wish her the best of luck as she moves forward in her life.
