Last week, on Tuesday, February 20, the Weskan Coyotes played the Tribune Jackrabbits. This game was the last game before Sub-state! It was a very intense game for both the boys and girls.

To start off the night, the JV girls played half a game. The girls came out strong and were ready to fight! Sadly, they didnt come out with a win. The score was 15-16. The score cannot explain how hard we fought! I feel like we gave it our all! We didnt give up and we fought through, said Freshman, Kenzie Eck.

Once the JV girls were done playing, the JV boys played half a game. They worked hard but only came away with a score of 12-21. I felt fine that this was my last game. I was neither happy nor sad. Thats just how life goes, said Senior, Doniley Sexson.

Now that the JV games were done with, it was time for Varsity girls to play. The Lady Coyotes worked great as a team and they really fought through the battle. I feel that we have definitely started peaking. Im very excited for next year to come because its going to be my last year and we will have a good team because of all we have learned this year, said Junior, Jenna See. The final score was 60-32.

Once the Lady Coyotes game was over, the boys took the court. The Coyotes played a great first half. When they came back from halftime, the boys were fierce and ready to finish the game. I was really bummed that it was my last home game. Im going to miss playing on the court next year, but right now its time to focus on Sub-state, said Senior, Dallas Seader. The ending score of the game was 56-59.

With the regular season over, the Lady Coyotes had a record of 6-12 before Sub-state, while the boys had a record of 9-9. The first game that took place for Sub-state was on Monday, February 26, in Sharon Springs. The Lady Coyotes played against the Sharon Springs Wildcats. Whoever won this game, would play the Golden Plains Bulldogs on Friday, March 2, again in Sharon Springs.

The Lady Coyotes were determined to fight hard! The girls really wanted it, so they gave it their all! Once Josie Purvis tipped the ball, it was due for a good game! Sadly, after 32 minutes of playing basketball, the Lady Coyotes lost with a score of 51-63, ending their season.

The Coyotes will play Thursday in Sharon Springs at 6:30 against the Sharon Springs Wildcats! Come support our Coyotes as they fight to win! The winner of this game will advance to the final game.
Great job to the Lady Coyotes as they are finished with their season and good luck to the Coyotes on their next game!
