WKLL Basketball Tournament

 The Weskan Coyotes have been running like crazy at the WKLL Basketball tournament. The boys played on Saturday, January 28th, against the Wheatland Grinnell Thunderhawks. The Weskan Varsity boys played a fierce game, but ended up losing to them in Overtime, with the final score being 41-47.

Then, the Varsity boys went on to play the Palco Roosters, on January 29. The boys had an awesome game and even put a win in the books, with the score being 51-42.

To finish out the tournament, the Weskan Boys played the Cheylin Cougars. The Coyotes won 53-49, and came in Fifth place overall in the WKLL tournament. Jace Mackley said, “To me it was just a normal tournament. We got our annual Fifth Place.”
The Weskan Lady Coyotes ended up playing the Cheylin Cougars on January 28th and put another win in the books, with a score of 50-42. They then went against Triplains-Brewster, blowing them out of the water, 50-10.

On February 2nd they played for the Championship against the number one team, Golden Plains. The Lady Coyotes put up a good fight but came in second. The score was 34-58. Josie Purvis said, “It was exciting to play in some big games. I always love to play competitive teams with my teammates. League Tournament is always interesting. Taking second was really cool.”

Good Job to all the Weskan Athletes, either playing on the court or cheering on their teammates from the sidelines. The Coyotes take on Bethune February 5th and play the Northern Valley Huskies on Thursday the 7th. Then are back home to take on Logan on their own court.
